What is Cyber ​​Exploitation and Harassment? Harassment and bullying carried out over the Internet, humiliation, threats, marginalization, discrimination, coercion, and any form of inflicting pain in terms of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being is known as cybercrime.

Cybercrimes are diverse. These actions include maliciously typing, using romantic photos received by them to make humiliating threats to the people in the photo, intimidation, distributing obscene scenes in retaliation for sharing such photos, posting romantic photos on pornographic websites, and collecting money.

Law of Cybercrime

Relevant to this are the Amendment Acts No. 22 of 1995, No. 29 of 1998 and No. 16 of 2006 brought to the Penal Code of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, by amending Sections 286(A), 286(B) and 286(C) of the Penal Code, relevant laws have been made. In addition to this, the Obscenity Act No. 04 of 1927 has been amended and the related laws have been presented by the amendment No. 22 of 1983. Also, section 360(e) of the Penal Code and Section 372 of the Penal Code, Section 372 of the Penal Code, Section 372 of the Penal Code, Section 372 of the Penal Code, Section 372 of the Penal Code, is also used in the law related to cybercrime.

Institutions operating in Sri Lanka to prevent cybercrime

The National Child Protection Authority is primarily involved in preventing these crimes. They have introduced a system to provide relief to the victims and together with the Sri Lanka Cert Institute and the Ministry of Education are launching awareness programs and cybercrime prevention programs related to surfing the Internet safely and wisely.
